They say having a baby changes everything and I'm not disputing that fact at all. I know a lot has changed. . . but I was expecting more of a change I think, or maybe not more of a change but for it to be a harder transition. When you are an expecting parent people like to say "your lives will never be the same!" And they say it in this voice like you have no idea what you have just gotten yourself into and savor every last moment you have together before the little one comes because they are your last moments of peace together! Or maybe that is just how I heard it or I read into it that way. Now our lives aren't the same- I'm exhausted, Chris and I have much less freedom, and my body has been taken over by stretch marks, a chunk of flab on my stomach, and hard working mammary glands. But the joy that Amber brings us makes those things seem like such an insignificant price to pay to have the joy and blessing of her presence in our lives. I think that when parents see a couple pregnant with their first child instead of saying in a daunting voice, "your life will never be the same" they should say with a smile and a chipper voice "your life will never be the same- it will be better!"
